About Us
The Japan Foreign Journal aims to create a space for independent news stories by student/aspiring journalists. Together, we create content that meet the standards of professional western media. Founded and edited by student journalist Federico Duarte, from Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics. Based in Tokyo, Japan.

Editor and Founder
Federico Vanegas Duarte is currently a student of Political Science at Waseda University, based in Tokyo, Japan. Federico has a passion for journalism and writing, and keen interest in politics and international affairs.
After founding the Japan Foreign Journal (JFJ) in February of 2025, Federico began writing stories independently for the paper.
Currently he also works as the editor for the JFJ, choosing stories to cover, helping writers with articles, and editing pieces to ensure accuracy and proper style before publising.
